Frequently asked questions
Your questions, answered.
The questions we hear most often from firms evaluating StrataMax, answered clearly, with a Client Success Manager available for the rest.
Getting started
Is there a free trial?
No. StrataMax is set up against your firm's data, chart of accounts, and your firm's strata legislation jurisdictions. A free trial against generic data wouldn't be a useful evaluation. Instead, we run a 45-minute demo on your scenarios. For a deeper exploration, we also offer 90-minute sessions with our team, expanding on the same scenarios across the modules most relevant to your firm.
How long does onboarding take for a 2,000-lot firm?
Typical onboarding for a 2,000-lot firm runs 8-12 weeks, end-to-end. The cadence is run by our Training Team with a documented set of firsts.
Is there a mobile app?
Yes. The Strata Managers Portal is the on-the-go experience: documents, task management, cashflow analysis and contacts, designed for the day you're at the building. It runs in the browser rather than the desktop app, but draws on the same single data set.
Who else uses StrataMax? What makes it different?
Roughly 650,000 Australian lots are managed on StrataMax across every state and territory, by firms ranging from a few hundred lots to the largest names in the category. The differentiator the market singles out is the direct ATO BAS submission. No other strata platform submits BAS straight to the Australian Tax Office. Behind that: 34 years of building strata software in Australia, ISO 27001 + SOC 2 Type 2 certification, and a dedicated Client Success Manager per partner.
How long does migration take?
Migration timelines depend on incumbent platform, lot count, data quality, and how many states the firm operates in. Typical engagements run 8-16 weeks for mid-sized firms.
Security & compliance
Where is my data stored? Is StrataMax onshore?
Customer data is stored in Australian data centre regions by default, processed under Australian law, with Privacy Act and Australian Privacy Principles obligations applied to the data lifecycle. Engineering, training, support and Client Success are all onshore in Australia. Sub-processor and supplier listings are available on request as part of the security brief. One opt-in exception applies: customers who enable StrataMax AI features may have specific inference requests processed by AI models hosted in our Microsoft Azure infrastructure outside Australia.
What security certifications does StrataMax hold?
ISO 27001 certified and SOC 2 Type 2 compliant. Both are current and externally audited; ISO is renewed annually, SOC 2 reports on a continuous observation period. Certificates and the SOC 2 report are available on request, under NDA where the report content requires it. Full procurement detail lives on the Security page.
What data is StrataMax responsible for, vs. my firm?
StrataMax is responsible for the platform: its uptime, its security posture, its compliance with the standards in the certifications, and the integrity of the data once it is in our systems. Your firm remains the data controller for customer data; StrataMax acts as the data processor under a data processing agreement. Specific responsibilities are documented in the security brief and the contract.
Support & training
What support hours are included?
Live chat with our support team, based in Australia, is included in every plan. Our support team is available during business hours from Monday to Friday. A chat bot is available for product questions any time of day. Every partner also has a dedicated Client Success Manager who knows the firm's portfolio.
Can my offshore team use StrataMax?
Yes. Role-based permissions and audit logs are designed to govern access across onshore and offshore teams: your firm decides who can see which portfolios and which actions, with every administrative action recorded in an exportable audit log. The platform is the same; the controls let you partition who does what.
Does StrataMax submit BAS direct to the ATO? Does it integrate with common AU integrations?
Yes. StrataMax is the only strata platform that submits Business Activity Statements straight to the Australian Tax Office. We integrate with StrataCash for banking and StrataPay for payments. The full web-based API connects the rest: read and write access to schemes, owners, levies, invoices, work orders, documents and meetings. Detail lives on the API & integrations page.
